So when thinking about where to start with this whole blogging thing, I realized that what I really specialize in all boils down to one thing: my mom.
My mom is a hero.
Maybe she didn’t have a cape or make history, but a hero nonetheless. In the game of life, she was dealt a bad hand but learned how to make the most of every single second, every penny, every lesson. A single mom of 6 kids that worked 6 days a week, 11am – 11pm on her feet all day as a waitress without so much as a high school diploma, dated and married 2 guys that treated her poorly and left her with more mouths to feed. Yet always doing whatever she could for her kids, even if it put her in a worse off spot. That is a hero.
I’ve either learned my most valuable lessons from her OR I had to figure it out myself. So as I move forward, let’s look at things my mom taught me: morals, being a good person, college is important (although debatable) and happiness is homemade.
Things I haven’t learned from her is how to stand out for college applications, how to stand out amongst college students and how to survive a corporate workplace. These are valuable lessons I’d love to pass down to my kids, if I ever get around to having any myself. But even more useful to those with kids or have kids around them that they love, like my nieces and nephews.
Stay tuned while I dive into these topics.
